page two - Sailing the Great Lakes -July 2008 ....or Where in the World is John now?- Page three
July 23 - continued We watch the Ryerson for quiet awhile and I took ALOT of pictures ! At one time I realized that Captain Treece and I were photographing each other..it was funny. :) He has a pilot aboard so no worries his ship was being well taken care of while his shutter was clicking too. :)
Now , I noticed something that I never saw the last time I had see the Ryerson, a shuffleboard court in the middle of the deck between the hatches! Now, that is just too cool! I didn't get any support in trying to get one for the "coolbeans" though. Oh well!
As soon as the Ryerson cleared then we were on our way into Lock 7. There were people hanging around watching the ships one group who even dressed alike, there are always people around to wave at makes it fun! There was a "salty" The Federal SHIMANTO coming up that was waiting for us in Lock 6.
You forget how big these ships are until you see them in a picture like this with cars driving on the road next to it! The guys were busy calling spots for Anders until we were in the lock and the lock master gave us the "hold er there"! command. |
