"Sailing" May 2005 - Page 2!
The sun coming up and shinning on Conneaut Harbor.
We were at the loading dock around 7am that morning. We were tired but decided to enjoy the
day and go for another walk but this time head into "downtown" Conneaut. Hmmmmm Well it was a nice walk
lots of pretty houses with pretty gardens. It was great to go for a walk with Anders we always have such a good time.
On the way back to the ship we stopped for some lunch, Yep Chicken Wings again for Anders, I had some
awesome shrimp. Can't remember the name of the resturant though. It was blue though..:o)
I forgot to bring crackers for the ducks though! Later we were up in the wheelhouse while Anders was faxing some
papers out when I told him there were ducks around the ship, so he called down to the galley and told the
girls. They quickly went out to feed them!
Another Train picture for my friends Lisa and Joey in New Hampshire!
Heading out onto Lake Erie again, we left around 6pm that afternoon. On our way to Lambton, yahooo!!
We went to bed later that evening after watching a few of my favorite TV shows. Lost and American Idol!
Anders got called around 5:30am , wow, we actually got our first good nights sleep!! And on the lake too. I love sleeping when
the ship is sailing. Its so relaxing. Even when there are no waves its still jiggles a bit...very nice.....
Good morning!! Beautiful sunrise !!
We had a great trip up the river, below are pictures of some of the sites we saw!
Looking for Angie!!
Making the turn is the Algosoo
The Whistles were blowing from each ship as the Captain guys are good friends!
I think I see this ship everytime I come out here. Amazing how little space between the ships deck and the water!!
Always looking for lighthouses for my friend Theresa in Tennessee!
(even though she tied a garbage bag to my truck....:o)
Its fun to look at all the beautiful houses along the river, see all the nice gardens too.
Making the dock at Lambton Generating Station, its really neat to watch this, I think docking is my favorite
part , I guess because thats when I really get to see Anders do "his stuff" ..:o) Hes so good at it too!
Hard working deck hands pulling out the wires to secure the ship.
So we were secure at the dock around 3pm that afternoon. The coast guard was coming down to do a Mosh Test or something like that. I can't remember what it was all about but I only mention it because I thought it was funny when the Coast Guard woman came up to Anders office and the Mate introduced her to me she said "oh I wondered if you were Mrs. Captain" ha ha ha I thought that was really funny. :o) We tried to stay up and watch the finale of CSI but ended up going to bed and recording it. Got called at...guess when...yep 3:30am the next morning. Time to go, but we were just hopping up to Imperial Oil to "gas er up" for now though. When we got there around 6am we went down and watched CSI..wow what a good show!! Very exciting!!
Then we were on our way out onto Lake Huron on a beautiful sun shinny day!
Always something neat to see along the way!
Love this...My Country Flag with my new home Flag..:o)
Another lighthouse picture for Theresa!
Pilot change. You could not PAY me to do that...!!
Out on Lake Huron, beautiful.
We took a nap shortly after getting out of the river, and when I woke up I went into brush my teeth and realized I was
having a hard time standing up in front of the sink. I mentioned it to Anders and he thought I was wacko. :o)
But then he remembered the guys were hosing down in the tunnel so I guess they purposely list the ship to one side
so to make it easier for them. It was like walking in a fun house in the hallways when we went down for lunch!
We went to bed after this beautiful sunset, Anders warned me that the phone was going to ring early tomorrow.
OH and that it did...not 2:30 though but was 1:30 better????? Oh my gosh I was tired!! It was the wrong time
to call Cathy to tell her we were going by her house but she got her salute anyhow and her
house got spotted too! Now for the first part of the river I was just fighting to stay awake myself. I just
don't see how he does it but somehow he does. He sure wasn't tired, in fact when he called in to Soo traffic, the guy who answered said so very cheerfully "GOOD MORNING Algolake next call at the junction!" I kept telling everyone up in the wheelhouse it wasn't morning until the sun came up but I wasn't getting anywhere at all! And of course there was that every going conversation about Mudlake and its existance or not....hmmmm. When the sun starting rising I started to
get my second wind though. Just look a the pictures below to see why..wow. God is so Good.
